GOODBYE SHANOOK
Shanook
Shanook was rescued by Joyce a volunteer with our rescue.   Shanook was  underweight and would not eat, so Joyce cooked him chicken and food which he did eat.  He was urinating blood, so she took him to Dr. Sanders in Jonesborough TN, and he was put on meds for infection, then a blood panel revealed he was anemic.  Dr. Sanders did exploratory surgery to find out where the blood, now with clots was coming from. Sadly, just into rescue, Shanook had very bad kidney cancer.
He is now in heaven.
We thank Joyce and Dr. Sanders for their caring of Shanook and trying to save his life. The day of the operation he got 2 people requesting information on him about adoption.  Shanook may not have been adopted but his last few days of life were that of love and caring by Joyce every day in her home.
Joyce is using some of her property for a sanctuary for senior and handicapped siberians.  We are in need of funds and she has also donated a time share in Daytona Beach Florida to raffle off.  Joyce has helped our rescue so much.  If you can spare $2.00 for a ticket, each one adds up.  Read below:

August 13, 2009  UPDATE:  Due to the economic situation we will lower our adoption fee from $150.00 to  $125.00.  The dogs are still spay/neutered and up on all shots.

We rescue Siberian Huskies from shelters in SW Virginia,
from Roanoke south to Knoxville Tennessee.
From April to end of May we've had over 35 calls to take someone's
Siberian Husky.  PLEASE do not get a siberian if your not understanding of the breeds characteristics.  See our husky education page.
We are presently full and in GREAT need of foster homes.
Any help is appreciated.

STOP !  YOU MAY NOT HAVE TO GIVE UP YOUR HUSKY ! God has sent a blessing to us all with the following great website which asks the question:  Can We Help You Keep Your Pet? . . .

Our volunteers and dogs work with scouts in

educational and hands on presentations:

girlscouts

 Presentation includes dogscooter ride.

Coming soon: Advanced dogsledding class.

We and our sled dogs  (mainly shelter rescues) do these educational presentations as a way to educate about

responsible pet care, the Siberian Husky breed and

 fundraise for our rescue.

When adopting a Siberian Husky it is important to
educate yourself first.
There are many links on our "Husky Education" page to help you find out if the Siberian Husky breed will fit into your families daily lifestyle so the dog and you will be happy.

We mainly pull huskies from shelters in SW Virginia and
NE Tennessee areas.
